The next step in the electrical design prototyping process was to place the various pressure sensors on the crutch, and test for the ideal thresholds. The thresholds will be analog values unique to each location that correspond with human use. The bottom, hand, and armpit pressure sensors were attached to the crutch at their designated locations and individually evaluated. The bottom sensor required a relatively low threshold to indicate the crutch was in contact with the ground. The armpit and hand sensors require a slightly higher threshold to avoid false positives. The following image shows the testing of the armpit sensor. The next step in the prototyping process will be to integrate the pressure sensor code with the motor code.
